The Embassy visits eye-clinic in Mendefara

Last updated: 06/09/2010 // The Embassy visited an eye-clinic in Mendefara mid august to observe the activity at the clinic and witness the various treatments offered.

Elin Eikeland, on behalf of the embassy, met with representatives of the clinic who informed about the daily activities and showed her some of the facilities at the clinic.

The clinic opened in the middle of 2008 and has since then treated a lot of people, both as out-patients and by surgery.  According to the hospital’s own statistics the number of patients having been treated in 2010 has already reached 5000. In 2009 they treated a total of 12 104 patients and in 2008, from August, the clinic treated 8202 patients.

The doctor at the clinic is financed by Norad through The Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (NABP).
