Applications for travel permits will be processed by Administration Offices in Asmara or in areas wherer foreign nationals are living or working. The application has to be forwarded within 10 days before the journey.
Tourists and other visitors have to contact the Ministry of Tourism to apply for travel permits. This is normally granted within 24 or 48 hours. The application has to be forwarded only after arrival in the country.
Due to the above-mentioned travel restrictions, all Norwegians staying in Eritrea should be aware of the difficulties which could occur in cases where consular assistance are needed outside Asmara.
